Privacy Policy

TerraLoop ("we", "us") is a GPS territory-control game. This policy explains what data the TerraLoop app and server collect, why, and how you can control it. If you have questions this page doesn't answer, email support@terraloop.app.
Information we collect
- Account information — username, email address, and a hashed password when you register.
- Location data — precise GPS coordinates recorded while you actively record an activity (walk, bike, or drive), including brief background location so a recording continues if your screen locks. Location is only collected during an active recording session, not in the background at other times.
- Gameplay & device data — the routes, loops, and territories your account claims; crew membership; season points; and anti-cheat signals (e.g. GPS accuracy, mock-location flags, timestamps) used to validate activities and protect fair play.
- Basic technical data — standard server request logs (IP address, timestamps) for security, rate-limiting, and debugging.
How we use it
- To operate the core game: validating closed loops, computing territory capture, and maintaining the leaderboard and seasons.
- To detect and prevent cheating — GPS spoofing, mock locations, and physically impossible movement.
- To send in-app notifications about your account and territory (e.g. someone captured your land).
- To respond to support requests you send us.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your location data for advertising.
Third parties
The app uses Google Maps (Maps SDK for Android/iOS) to render the map you play on; map tile requests are subject to Google's privacy policy. We don't share your account or gameplay data with any other third party.
Data retention
Account, territory, and activity data is retained for as long as your account is active, so your history, stats, and streaks stay intact. Rejected/flagged activity records are retained for anti-cheat moderation purposes.
Your choices
- Location permission can be revoked at any time in your device settings — the app simply can't record activities without it.
- To request a copy of your data or permanent deletion of your account and associated data, email support@terraloop.app from the address on your account. We'll confirm and process the request without undue delay.
Children's privacy
TerraLoop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
